Beginning to think that better off not coming home as all we have done is have appts. First Bruce's Colonoscoy, then his cataract op now my calcium cardiac scan now to a cardiologist Monday. Seeing him because of family Ischaemic Heart problems + every increasing Chloestrol, + high calcium score plus SOB! Ugh.
Oh forgot- he got new hearing aids in September, had them back twice with no improvement so now waiting for another new pair & no apt until 5th March to get them calibrated.. Naturally he now has to get new glasses after cataract op- again- after getting new ones in October.
Let me outa here ASAP. Need to hit the road Jack.

Just another happy part of getting older Kay, but as long as you and BBA are young at heart then all is ok with the world.

Re: How many more Dr appts this year?
Our saga yesterday which took place at QDI where a Cardiologist from a major hospital is going to come one day a week to see patients.
Made my apt 10 das ago- all good
Phone call last Friday- please arrive 9.15am- 30 mins earlier- not a problem.
Arrived as requested, referral etc handed into reception. Shown where to wait at a smaller waiting room.
It was very obvious that they were still setting up the rooms in one of the ultrasound rooms. A couple of patients going from one room the cardiologist's room, plus the cardiologist walking past us with in touching distance.
Come 11.30 decided that we had sat for long enough so out to reception I go, not a happy chappie.
Commented that I had been phoned Friday to arrive early, asked my name.\
Od dear the woman commented we have been texting & ringing you since 9.45 as the Dr wanted me so he could do ECG & heart ulrtrasound.
Why would you ring me when we were sitting not 10 ft away, outside the Dr's door???????
Why not call my name??????
Full of apologies then finally Dr arrived also full of apologies about the "ballsup " were his words.
Ok another 30 mins into his room from the ECG/ultrasound room
As he was not happy with my chloestrol, cardiac calcium score- almost off the chart, he wanted me to stay as he was going to get them to fit me in for a heart scan with dye. Asked if I had had chest pain which I have not.
Ok need to say that you have before can claim for the dye test.
Ok after 3 tablets & another 30mins to wait for heart rate to slow down, then had the scan. This is now 2pm we were bloody starving etc .Finally got all results.
Ultrasound of heart showed heart" muscle" in good condition, ECG no problems.
Dye test showed large arteries totally clear of chloestrol but the surrounding blood vessels around the heart- a different story.
Now because of chloestrol, as well as the calcium score plus mother, her mother & 2 sisters & my father all having MI's need treatment immediately.
Have tried statins but make arthritis worse so now must take Panadol twice a day to get over that pain & restart statin tabs as well as aspirin.
Back in 2 weeks for a stress echo plus $550!! Gap I have to pay will be $350.
Al least yesterday, after all those tests & initial consultation was told would nothing to pay because of the- once again- balls up. Thanks you very much because I was going to ask that anyway.
We finally got back to van for lunch at 3pm.

Hmm.....always had a funny feeling about stress tests, if they already know there is a problem putting it under stress seems like the last thing you should do if you want it to keep working.... but that's just my view on it.
Good luck with the tests and don't push the limits

The stress test is to check out what exercise does to the SOB (shortness of breath)

Re: How many more Dr appts this year?
I was very concerned about my echo stress test after talking to our neighbour about his but the Cardiologist explained it would only go till my heart rate topped 150 bpm. Being quite unfit, that didn't take too long! LOL!! Followed by a 24hr heart monitor and I was pronounced AOK! As my father dropped dead at the age of 54 from MI, I was a bit nervous!

Had a chemical induced stress test last week, as I could not do the manual one due to it being for a knee replacement [next Friday 6/2] passed with flying colours.
