What communications do you need for your trip or holiday?

Post by Motherhen »

A regular those embarking on a big trip ask is about choosing the right communications for your travel plans. When do you need a satellite phone? What other options are available?

A new expanded edition of Grant Nielsen's Staying in Touch on the Road is just out, with up to date communications and a whole lot more information for the Australian traveller. While the previous edition was free, with a donation to RFDS recommended, the latest electronic publication can be downloaded with a $9.97 payment, from which a donation will be made to the RFDS.

This has been produced as a not for profit project in the interests of helping travellers choose devices that will work for them rather than find when they get to a destination that their mobile has no reception, or they have an accident on a drive or walk and cannot call for help.

What will you need? How can you make it work better?

This Facebook page tells more about Staying in Touch on the Road. Facebook members, please Share.

A must-have for all new travellers, and highly recommend for those wanting to keep informed about the latest technology.

Staying in Touch on the Road can be downloaded here.

Travel safe.

Thankyou for the link Motherhen, I forwarded it to my wife's work email so she can check it out and pay the $$ if she thinks it's what she needs.... I might even get a look at it after the first mth or so  If I was to buy it the IT nerd I her would have the "Why did you buy that, don't you think I know this stuff" response for sure, plus then she spends her money to get it :)

I could tell you what you should do & possibly even where to go - for free - but then I'd get a letter!!

Seriously Jim, while travellers like you and I may know, Grant met very disenchanted holidayers who had believed the sales pitch, and too late discovered they had no coverage. This started the first of his editions which was really just a one page flyer. It has grown in the ensuing years. Like many of us, he also has good reason to thanks and support flying medical services.
