Jamglor ( Jamie & Glori)

Post by jamglor »

Well its been a long time coming and its been decided that the time has come to move. have just put new tyres on the bus (had to sell a leg).
the fridge has been ordered. have to sort out a better grey tank and some other stuff but basically as long as the home on wheels in liveable we will sort out the other bits and pieces while on the road. The nephew (the special child) as I call him will be renting the house.
We have no idea which way we are going but I have put in for a fair few jobs all over oz , a fair few of them seem to be in SA for some strange reason.
Hoping to be on the road by the end of May or early June. will update as we go

If you have the job confirmed before you leave and before you leave to the next job, you can claim travelling costs, vehicle depreciation and up keep etc on any taxable income. It is a loophole type tax ruling that was made for the shearers, but any itinerant worker can also use it as long as they are travelling to a job, not travelling and looking for a job when you get there. So keep a good record of distance travelled each day, accommodation costs, fuel costs and any food expenses that would be over and above normal at home food costs, so receipts to verify that and all fuel and vehicle cost receipts as well of course.
Enjoy the travels, it does sound like a great life so hopefully we will actually get to try it one day

I have to get this motor vehicle accident court case over and done with so I have the $$ to get the bus finished before we can travel anywhere. 10 1/2 yrs now and NRMA are just getting worse not better, now my medical bills are not being paid either so yet another drain on the finances.

Thanks T1
Vaguely remember some one saying about it a while ago as I was wondering on how I could use the system.
Also has any one done a itinerant voter and how does it work (haven't got around to asking the AEC yet)

We also absentee voted (in Tamworth) last Federal election with no difficulties.

Well the time is getting closer for our great adventure to start , the fridge that was ordered has been lost in transit (lucky we hadn't paid for it yet) and no one knows where it is?(it was the last one available as this size is no longer made by waeco) so we will leave it till we are over east.
I will be finishing work around the 26th and Glori will finish around the 9th June, that will give me time to finish off the frame on the temporary trailer that we have until we get the one we want built. We were going to get it built over here but because it wasn't a mining type job they gave us the run around so now it will get done over east . We still have a few little things to do the bus but we will do most things on the road.
so basically we should be leaving around the middle of June and head across the Nullarbor at a steady pace so I can play the links golf course.
Then head to Strath in SA and stay awhile there ,find a job, annoy the locals and have a good look around well that's the plan.
will report more as we go
