Anyone have the LG inverter 223L fridge?
3.5 stars. 260kWh.

$100 dearer than the Samsung but low power consumption.

A few places have them for $679 but that's about all I know about them, sorry. They are 10mm too wide to fit in the space I have in big bus, otherwise I reckon I'd give one a go at that price.

I like the door shelf set up better on the LG. The 'milk' shelf on the Samsung should be at the bottom.

The LG is higher by 60mm at 1525mm, but it's not as deep. Only 585mm compared to 640 for the Samsung, about 2".

Could come down to noise level whether to use these 240v fridges. If someone has the LG please post your thoughts.

Hmmm... sometimes more choice can be a bad thing.

We have an inverter fridge at home - Panasonic. Noise is a different thing from an inverter fridge. Ours always makes noise, but not the fridge compressor noise as you know it. The noise is more of a constant murmur that varies in intensity depending on how hard the fridge is working. We don't sleep in the kitchen so I can't say how disturbing the noise would be. I don't think it would be a problem because it doesn't crash on and off like a motel room fridge does. I suspect that one would easily get used to the noise - it's more like pink noise in the background.

Thanks, know what you mean re the compressor fridges. I'd often subconsciously listen to the 12v fridge to ensure it was cycling as it should. Better than counting sheep. :D

Just a follow up on the LG 223L inverter fridge above.

Power consumption is 95 watts, 140 watts on defrost cycle. So, should run on the Victron 350VA PS inverter like the Samsung.

At 266Kwh it should use 73AH/24hrs through the 12v inverter. The Samsung 255L is 269Kwh.

A 12v Waeco 160L would use about 60AH/24hrs. But I would need to fit a cabinet fan and digital thermostat, and hope it lasts. $1650.

I like the LG's layout better and the ice cube unit can be removed completely.
The LG's also not as deep at 585mm against 637 for the Samsung. Coaster's hallway is only 625! Bit close for comfort. I should check if the fridge doors can be removed!

John (Freechange).

About 6 weeks down the line now and I would be interested to hear what decisions you have made and how things are developing

Barrie, I'm going with the Samsung 255L. It uses 269kW which is better than the smaller 228L model. Go figure.
The door shelf design on the 255L is a lot more useable as well.
I also asked three separate caravan users via PM about the noise level on the 255L and all said it was quiet.

Considered the LG but the silly fixed full length top egg shelf killed it, as well as the higher price.
I compared all 3 fridges in the flesh side by side at HN.
Nothing else avlb with inverter tech under 300L.

Thankyou for your report John.
I'm thinking of taking your advice in regards to the Samsung 255L but to fit it in I need to trim 1.5cm off the overhead cupboard. Can be done though.
Probably pay to leave some air space over top of it too for circulation.
I might take my meter with me & get both the 228 & the 255 plugged in & see exactly how may watts each draws. Startup, running etc.
I find that KWh per annum as a figure that may not be much use really when we're talking AH use per day on LiFePO4 batteries. (Or lead acid.)

Scubashan on CF did testing with the 255L. 23 watts average power consumption.
