mick n di's bus build

Post by BACAMICK »

hi guys this is the start of our bus build :)
about 18mths ago i bought a 2006 f250 so we could get a big van to live in wen we leave our pub , i was so exiced about the idea and realy enjoyed driving the f250 around , then a freind of mine came to visit on his tour of au , they have a 2006 f250 and i think a 33ft triaxle van , problem is he is right on his weight limit and there seems to be lots he cant take or do to his van , so i started thinking , bugger it we will buy a m/home , looked at a couple for around 50-70g and thought thats madness for somethink that was not realy nice but they were deff liveable , i could build one heck of a nice m/home for that :) being a ex builder [b4 i went mad and talked the boss into buying a pub] so after some long resaerch it was decided that was a better way to go , i sold the f250 and started looking for a bus , looked at a couple of buses and they all seemed to have a million or more ks on them , so talking to a guy whos mate nos a guy whos daughter nos a guy with a bus company [ the joys of owning a pub hey, wasnt that bad but u get the drift ] so to cut a long story short we ended up buying the bus from the bus company , paid $14,400 for it with a road worth all in our name , its a 1991 hino rearmount turbo with 460ks 6speed full sycro box [like a car manual] and they bought it new and it was mainly a spare school bus , all service history and work carried out on it , is only down fall was the ceiling hight , im 6.4 and the hight is 6.3 , but then i thought how much time am i gunna spend walking around in it , ive been building it since january 2012 and im surprised how the height dosent bother me cause ive deff been doing a lot of walking around in it , :)

That is looking great Mick. I do have a question. Where is the passenger going to sit?

You certainly have got a long way with it Mick, congratulations, it is really taking shape. We tried the painted windows, then removed window glass and replaced it with UK multipanel, in the end we removed the windows all together in the centre section, it made life much easier then with where the walls went etc. Did you use ESP on the glass before you painted? Just a possible fix wiout needing to remove the glass altogether.
I'm guessing that i a WHitworth marine macerator toilet, if so I have a mod for you that you will appreciate the first time something goes down the toilet that shouldn't, the whole toilet has to come out to get the macerator pump out when used as it comes in the box, not something you want inside the house :yuk:

hi craig , the pass seat goes between the drop to steps and the tv stand , dont look much in in pic but its actually 950mm , the tv stand ya can see is only sitting there as im undersided wat to do , im leaning towards moving the tv stand back another 100mm [thats as much i have as wheel arch under there] and puting a tv there with a table built above it . down the other end i have enough room for a seat aswell ,

What a lovely job you're doing Mick, very exciting to be getting closer to "launch". After sitting through 48deg heat today with aircon going all day, my best advise is, put heaps of insolation in!! :o :( ;)
Look forward to seeing your progress.

Mick, A friend of ours has put the passenger seat along side the drivers seat and re designed the steps which meant she could sit next to him and give him "instructions".
