Jeez how right is Terry and Bob, they used to rattle the teeth in your head with all that bucking and shuddering going on. Can't understand why there weren't more compo claims with them.

Not a lot of compo claims come from the grave Dirk, they didn't have the "K" insignia for nothing. The one I drove had killed 3 drivers before me filling the chair and an unknown number after, but I know of at least 3 besides me who never drove trucks again as the fright was that life changing it moved them on to another career. Swinging meat in an 8 wheeler with that torsion bar suspension certainly sorted the drivers from the drovers, that sudden snap as the body roll ended when the chassis member and diff member kissing and the rear axles shifted out of line and took over the steering job..... a thrilling ride the first time  The Cullerin Ranges between Goulburn and Gunning was my introduction to rally driving an 8 wheeler, opposite lock involves a lot of wheel turns in one of those things  That was the same truck than ran out of puff in the middle of Green's Pinch heading up Bulli Pass resulting in rolling backwards through the bells and flashing lights, both inside and outside the cab as the engine was also spinning backwards... fortunately not running though, and the brakes were quickly running out of air..... and I finally decided mechanicing was a whole lot less exciting but a tad more stable

Yes Terry a very memorable truck to drive and all for the wrong reasons. Fortunately my didn't entail long hours behind the wheel but that was more than enough to make my rear end take a few bites out of the vynal.
