On-Board 240 volt power

Post by Keith Morris »

"tanks" here---
I have an ODIN petrol built-in 240 volt 4kva generator, with remote control in the Leisure Seeker.
Can any forum member tell me approx how much petrol it uses per hour of running.
The W'bago has a ULP tank at the rear dedicated to the generator.
There is no fuel gauge for the ULP tank, and I don't know its capacity, but I think it holds about 40 litres.
I understand the more looad I put on the generator, the more fuel it will use, but I am just after a rough ballpark figure.
Perhaps another member has had some experience with a petrol model.
Keith.

You are virtually asking how long can you stretch a rubber band here Keith.

My Honda EU20i holds about 4.5 litres and will run 5 hours with the aircon on.
Probably run 8-10 hours just charging the batteries etc on idle.

There is your ROUGH five to ten hour guide for a 2kW generator.
Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

I understand that dawg, but I feel that the Odin 4 kva will use more fuel than a Honda 2 kva generator [so to speak]
Likewise a mini-minor will use less fuel than a supercharged Jaguar to run the same distance.

Gasoline
60 Hz 4.0 KY

No load 0.3 Gal/h (1.1 L/h)

Half load 0.5 Gal/h (1.8 L/h)

Full load 0.7 Gal/h (2.7 L/h)
Give you a rough idea perhaps Keith?

Thanks BruceS -- that gives me a bit of an idea. That equates to around 4 litres per hour in rough figures.

The supercharged Jaguar will probably use less fuel than the Mini Minor because the Jaguar will stop just after it gets out the gate.
