Dirk I'd be tempted to ask here.

EDIT: OK, I see you've already been there!
Do you know the maker of that switch?

G'Day Bruce,
Yep switch is an SWF model number 511.195 made in Germany. Bus was built in 1987. Would like to keep the switch if possible as it matches the other switches.
Bill,
Yes bloody odd wiring on these old girls that's for sure. Got half the switch connected and working and have current for blinkers front and rear but getting the cross over bit right is the problem There is a resistor in there as well but don't know what the idea of that is. .

Dirk, See if this makes more sense >http://www.krautli.ch/fileadmin/downloa ... halter.pdf <
Scroll down to the third last dwg on pg 16. This drawing is the same but drawn in a different manner.
I hope that helps.

Re: Hazard light switch diagram.
G'Day David,
Thanks for the link. Printed it off and will have a study to see if I can fathom it out. I am sort of thinking the switch is like a parallel set up and when switched on it just connects left and right circuits together..... or something along those lines.
Bus Australia site is a pretty good site but mostly drivers hang out there. There are the odd mechanical blokes that pop up from time to time and offer good advice. Another great site is an American bus site, "Grease Monkey" that has died in the wool bus fanatics who are into the restoration and conversion to motor homes, (RV's to them) of the older buses. Mostly Detroit Diesel motors but a great bunch of very friendly blokes. http://www.busgreasemonkey.com/index.php?p=/

Re: Hazard light switch diagram.
Yes Dirk.... was traveling back to the boat. Weather has finally brightened up a bit down here.
I'll look into it and get one going. There's a few sections that I might shut down first.

Re: Hazard light switch diagram.
What a crazy switch.
In the off position, (0).
pin 8 is connected to pin 3. Everything else is not connected.
In the on position (1)
pin 10 and pin 7 are connected to pin 5.
pin 3 is connected to pin 1 (and possibly pin 5 too).
the connection between pin 8 and 3 is broken and
pin 2 is connected to pin 4.
My guess is:
pin 1 goes to an indicator (LHS?)
pin 2 goes to an indicator (RHS)
8 and 6 is a circuit that turns off when the switch is turned on and
2 and 4 is a circuit that turns on when the switch is turned on
