Peter, the donation camp at Alford is not bad - dump point, flushing toilets and a water tap.

Lesley,
Checked out Alford "top place".

Well I'm camped at "Iron Knob" Absolutely nothing in this town except the mine. Fuel/ Roadhouse closed, unable to even get a cup of coffee [had to make my own]. Tomorrow another day.

Peter,
When I worked for BHP (1970s - pre-Billiton merger), I was given a tour of all the company facilities.
Iron Knob at that stage had been mined so thoroughly that the mine manager reckoned the name should be changed to Iron Hole-in-the-Ground!
There was very little to the town then - just a mining camp. Roadhouse was non-existent then. Glad to see the town had 'progressed'!
Would probably have rocketed up the scale to a 'One-Horse Town'... except the horse fell down a mineshaft in the 1980s. ;)
Where to next, Peter??
Regards & God bless,
Ray

Arrived Kalgoorlie and set up in The Prospector Holiday C'van park. I booked in for one week lot to see here. Went on the brothel tour [waste of $20] just the story of the place. [no free samples]. Booked the 2.5 hour Super Pit tour for Friday morning.

The tourist mine is worth a visit while you are there if time allows
