NBN Fixed Wireless

We have just been connected to fixed wireless NBN at home. One word: WOW

This is going to make mobile broadband look so slow when we are on the road

$55 a month on a 24 month contract at super sonic speeds with 250gig a month allowance. makes Mobile internet at the same price for 8 gig a bit of a joke

Rob how does it work? Is it Satellite or like 4G? (over transmission towers)

Fix means home phone to get nbn
Telstra air support to connect to home modem when on road but I have not got it to work yet

No, can't be used on the road. Has an aerial on the house roof and an NBN box connected to a wireless router. It is wireless to an NBN tower. I think it is only available where there won't be any fibre optic cabling ie rural areas

Certainly sounds a good set up & a good price, we don't look like getting NBN any time soon.

I keep getting the brush-off when I ask WHEN will we get the NBN, and HOW do I take it on the road?
Usual reply: "Yer carn't. Gotta have a home phone line." (We don't, and won't!)

dont think you can get it bruce or do you have landline at the marina

They have a fixed wireless base at Mannum central and I think a second one at Mannum Waters, the Marina where Bruce and Wendy live. We need to find out more about how we get connected to this system when we move to Mannum, but it does sound good.

Recently at the Marina AGM they indicated that NBN was coming in the very near future to Mannum itself and the Marina managers said they were going to subscribe to an unlimited NBN plan and distribute it via WiFi from the top of the housing area. It was suggested it'd be free for all Maina berths.
Wayne at present there are no telephone wires buried within the marina.
NBN is already 7 years behind the times if you ask me.......... All that money should have been spent of wireless Internet Australia wide.
Why expect people to have both landline & mobile phones and Internet?

I think its to do with band width Bruce not enough in the spectrum if all was on wireless .
