Hello it's Happy hr...

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

I've never used shipping agents but I've bought many things from all over the globe.
If you find the exact item you're after then work out if & how you can get it.
Dot I really don't think you should discount how effective these cheaper one are.
The ONLY real effective ones would have to be on the outside to stop the heat before it comes through the glass.
Next time I'm down the street I'll see if there's any still in stock.
We stitched up & joined ours with the sewing machine.
We don't use the stick on's........ just fold the sunvisors down to hold 'em in place.

Dot, Before you go spending a serious amount of $$$ go to a shed place and have a look at the stuff they line sheds with now. It is almost the same as the screens from Qld but a fraction of the price. If you can't find it PM me and I will find out from the mate that got me some.

supersparky, that's a good call.
Dot, why dontcha have a gander at the shed stuff, if it's suitable, get a piece that will fit all the way around the windscreen (outside)and tuck into the doors when you close em. No sewing required. :)

We could also be interested for the Landcruiser depending on cost, as Chuck says.

We are making ours out of Airoshield Retroshield and that's available from Bunnings (think that's the stuff Martin mentioned). It's silver foil both sides with bubble wrap in the middle. We lined the ceiling and walls of the big bus with batts made from a folder over double layer with another sheet of bubble wrap in the middle, that silver foil tape insulation people use around the edges to seal it all up. Works excellent, it would perform just as well as those comercially made and a 30 mtr roll is around $180 from memory.
Brian made one for his windsreen in the Hino and the two front side windows, he is very happy with the results.

Thats the stuff Terry, Will be buying a roll of that and the heat shield paint when we get back. will try the single layer first, which we found was plenty in the winnebago, may double layer for the 4 seasons hatches, we have 3 of them and the metal gets the hots in the sun!

Dotty
You should have asked me first.

We have the Solarscreens from Brisbane, yes they were very expensive but they have done an excellent job of keeping the heat out of the bus and are still working as good as new - $500 back in 2008.

When we were parked up in Perth, it was so hot we decided to screen the rest of the windows in the bus. It was Christmas time and Dan Murphy's had just had a pallet of ice delivered on Christmas Day. The pallet was wrapped in bubble wrap with silver foil on the outside. I acquired about 4 metres x 1 metre for nothing and cut it to size for every window on the bus. We purchased some sucker caps from Clark Rubber. The whole exercise probably only cost about $6.

And a quick story that was published on the original CMCA Forum - we were camped in North Queensland and the people using the manufactured screens were experiencing cracks in their windscreens. On that original thread the Owner of the manufacturing screen company in Brisbane disputed this fact. We have never had any trouble with cracking but I should imagine that if you were parked in the same position for some time (3 or 4 months) with the sun beating down on the windscreen this could occur.

I have seen motorhomes with an external canvas cover for the windscreen with solar shield type material on the inside of the windscreen and it works perfectly.
