Who has said that it is being leased to the CMCA? Can you all be patient & see the outcome. Our meeting with Mal was very informative.

Macca the fellow interviewed on the news programme stated it would be leased to CMCA.
Freedom camping means free to choose where you camp, Free & Low cost camps are ok but I think it doesn't hurt to pay a few dollars towards upkeep & maintenance even supplying toilet paper costs.

From what Mr Dempsey said it would be leased to the CMCA and it would in turn only be available to CMCA members.Macca wrote:Who has said that it is being leased to the CMCA? Can you all be patient & see the outcome. Our meeting with Mal was very informative.
A similar set up has recently opened in Ingham : https://www.cmca.net.au/news.

Re: ? Good news for Bundaberg
Just re-read the post Neil & I had missed that comment so posted to his FB page suggesting another couple of spots. The old caravan park (closed after the floods) between the Hosp & Alexander Park- much closer to town than Agro trend grounds which are out opposite the airport, or between the 2 bridges.

As I have said elsewhere it looks like to me that CMCA is joining the CP owners via stealth and slowly eating up the available camping places.

One way of enforcing , slowly I admit ,membership to their association in the future ,

Re: ? Good news for Bundaberg
I think you are being a bit cynical there Ron, it would require a lot of land purchase or lease to take up all the available free camp spots, but it does open the door to an alternative to being herded into caravan parks if you want to be near a major town. Maybe the membership fee would just become one of those costs to be factored over the number of site uses per yr, a bit like factoring the price of good tyres v rim protectors over the expected life time of the tyre, an initial cost that turns out to be a saving in the long run. The added bonus would be the strength in numbers it would give the CMCA when talking with govt bodies and possibly reach the point where professional lobbyists could be employed to gain a better out come for the RV traveller.Noggins wrote:As I have said elsewhere it looks like to me that CMCA is joining the CP owners via stealth and slowly eating up the available camping places.

I walked away from the CMCA in disgust after 17yrs continuous membership, but I'm seriously looking at rejoining, not for the forum or for the rallies or even the insurance, to me all that has been destroyed and is not even a shadow of what it was, but for the strength in numbers and maybe even take advantage of these low cost sites if one happens to be in an area where it would be the preferred choice.

Re: ? Good news for Bundaberg
We originally joined the CMCA to insure our bus with KT because no other insurance companies were interested in insuring converted buses 14 years ago, we have held continuous membership & in that time although there has been upsets the club has strived to improve RV travel for ALL travellers, IMO buying up or leasing land for the use of members is a great member benefit & about time something was done for members only, if folk want to use the new camps then they should join the CMCA.
We have never attended a rally & probably never will, we have met many CMCA members at small organised social gatherings.
I enjoyed the old forum & was disappointed when it was closed, happy to see a new forum hope it continues to grow & becomes another great member benefit.

Re: ? Good news for Bundaberg
It's hard to imagine that a good business model for a CMCA CP would deny access to non members - maybe there could be substantial benefits for members but why would the organisation throw away the opportunity to collect revenue on otherwise vacant sites from non members?
