Good work, need that little bit of inspiration from time to time. Another traveling bus member was saying some of the sites mentioned in C 6/7 weren't really suitable for a big rig. How was your experience Greg and Dee.

We have a 1986 Volvo Bus [the one with the room at the rear downstairs] towing a trailer with a Nissen 4x4 With a boat and trailer on top travelling with us. He has just done the Chinchilla to Port Augusta Safari [via Birdsville Qld and Oodnadatta SA and he and a Fiat MH are going to do the GCR from Yulura NT to Leonora WA.

Re the Big Rig definition:
We're only 7.6m; 13m with toad on trailer.
We regularly drag Girt's bum & the trailer coupling on s/stn entries, gutter crossings, etc.
And we are tonight in a CP in Koondrook, which has tight turns at every street junction, and trees, trees, trees!
VERY fortunately, most are soft-foliage, so we just brushed them aside with no damage.
However, to get onto our site, we had to do an S-turn to dodge between two Eucalypts with VERY solid branches down low!
:? Maybe I should suggest some pruning to the owner/manager...
Regards & God bless,
Ray

We are probably like most bus owners and worry about trees and branches let alone difficult entries/exits. Good to hear from others. Keep the stories coming if you can.

We went to Buntine Rock and I would not recommend doing the whole trip to the Rock in a big rig, the track is narrow, sandy and big ruts along with some low branches and branches that scrape along the bus side. There is a better parking area a fair bit back from the actual rock (on the L) but it is pretty level, big enough for big uns to turn around etc.
Tonight we are tucked into ther Goomalling cp for a few days as Chuck has to get his car serviced. I managed to get around the sites ok but we were also given 3 sites between the 2 of us. The manager even gave me the thumbs up for my backing in without hitting the fence :D . Sites are not at all level but the rest of the amenities are clean etc also a dump point here. (no tv)

North Head Camp Ground Moruya, no power or water, right near river and beach, easy walk to both, lots of fishing. Right beside airport so a bit of noise every so often, might be noisier on weekend.

Sitting in Glen Innes showground at the minute while other half scratches for sapphires, great for big rigs, 25 acres to prop wherever you like $15 UO $20 powered, easy walk to town (downhill), just don't buy too much !
