MS users don't boast about how good their computers are for a good reason. Think about it.
They don't have to justify spending more than twice as much for a product that does less maybe? ;) Margaret has been in IT for 20 yrs, first it was BHP IT and they actually had Mac's, they were sent for disposal when she was only in the job for around 6mths and then she had the steep learning curve about PC's. The latest gadget is a Surface Pro 7, yes you certainly do hear her boast about just how good it is, what would happen if you offered her a fruit machine to replace it...... I'll let you guess what the response would be and I doubt you could actually get a fruit machine up there anyway

I have thought about it - and they don't boast because we don't have to!! Thanks for pointing that out!!

http://www.businessspectator.com.au/art ... gb&modapt=Welcome to the computing world Apple users, the malware attacks have started at a more serious level with hackers infecting apps now, it won't be long now before they find the weaknesses in many of the apps that allow them to infect machines via the web

Always interesting when proprietary users argue about how their last century expensive computing crap is much better than the another expensive load of last century crap.

Was forced to use both of them years ago because there were no decent alternatives for music recording and promotional video/graphics, other than the extremely expensive stuff apple and microsoft peddled. Then a friend showed me what they could do on a linux box with free open source software, now we use the most up to date software on the planet, which the major studios and producers use and all for free. To try to repeat the results using apple or windows software would cost us well over $10000 and then be forced to pay for service, updates and new releases.

These are the facts on world computing, linux/unix holds well over 90% of computing on the planet. Every piece of electronic equipment you use, has a linux/unix system running it. Close to 90% of all world servers are linux, NASA, major scientific institutions, military (outside USA control), major music, movie, studio's, increasing numbers of governments and sensible business operators all use linux. All the TV graphics you see are well over 90% linux, as are all major movies and cartoons, all coke from linux/unix systems. Android is a linux system, but unlike the majority of open source, it's not a good reflection of safety, just like the other two. During this year the phone market will be given another bump, when full linux systems like ubuntu and others make their phone/tablet system freely available to everyone. Linux is so good, if you know what you are doing, you can already run a linux system on your phone and tablet.

With linux, what's a virus, what's a hack, what's a blue/black screen, what's a slowing computer because of bloating, what's a never ending time consuming bandwidth devouring faulty updates and what's the cost. They all come to nothing, because you have full control and ownership of your system and the way it all works, making it almost impossible for someone to corrupt, take over or attack your system, beyond the desktop. When you add very few if any problems with hardware, backwards compatibly or finding a system that will run on even the oldest of computers, it's a no brainer. I run a linux system on a 15 year old compaq laptop and it is much faster than any apple or windows box, but only has 250meg ram and 10G HD. It controls our energy usage in the houses and so easy to set up as all the software needed is freely available and compatible with each other. The Linux running it that is so good, it runs entirely in ram, leaving the HD completely free. Linux users don't trash their old computers, they just reload them for another purpose, like a server and enjoy their 21st century computing experience, uninterrupted and free.
