I'm just a power waster. Everything on standby with remote controls. Too big a chance of spilling the beer leaning over to turn on the power point :)

Fuses are not all created equal and experience is not a good way to learn you got it wrong ;) After experiencing a 300 amp ANL fuse trying to catch the plastic casing on fire due to the heat build up I'd recommend anything bigger than a 200 amp fuse need to be a mega fuse as these are packed with an arc supressing material that will quench and arc if it starts. Lithium batteries pack a lot more punch than lead acid batteries so they can maintain and arc or dead short for a considerable length of time, the test Jon linked to was a single 3.2v cell, can you imagine the potential arc 4 of those cells in series to create 12v could maintain once it started?
The little blade fuses are a similar problem but for a different reason, I'd limit them to no more than 25 amps and this is due to the poor contact they have with the fuse holder terminals. They can generate enough heat to melt the plastic fuse and the fuse holder, so anything bigger than 25 amps needs a mini ANL fuse and holder . I tried the AG5 large round glass fuses but after melting the fuse holder due to a poor contact between holder and fuse I've given them away as a bad choice of equipment, they are a bit of a bugger to replace the fuse in anyway so the mini ANL set up wins there as well.

I used these battery terminal fuse blocks. They're compact and weatherproof.

Hi, all

Jon and Kay - why not use resettable circuit breakers? There are heaps on evilbay. We've a couple on the isolator and batteries and have had no probs at all.
See you on the back roads,

Can I get a 100m2 cable into them?
