Today's weather.

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Are the organisers providing tinnies for the audience?
:D
If not, I hope the chairs float!

Been lurking on this one. Finally had to insert my 2-cents-worth...
Described on one Melb TV news bulletin as "rain of Biblical proportions"... sounds about right from the reports: 40 days & 40 nights.
I don't remember anything approaching the recent weather when I lived in Warners Bay (1951~1966). Summers were long & hot, then.
Although I do remember as a tike (1954, I think) being taken to the hill near 2HD (as it then was) to see half of Maitland drift past on floodwaters up to roof-gutter level. :o
Quite a spectator sport, it was. Not much in the way of entertainment then... we were part of a fair crowd on that hill, as I remember it. 8-)
Although the Gummint subsequently spent a lot on levees & other flood mitigation measures, it seems some of the lessons have either been forgotten or ignored by developers! :? Especially, it appears, around Raymond Terrace!

Ray

Perfect day on Lake Macquarie but think most of the holiday folk have gone home.

Ray we lived on The Hill in 1972, great view, we have read & heard about the great Maitland flood, we use to often go up & stay at Walka waterworks they don't allow camping anymore pity it was a good spot to spend a few days.

Had a perfect day cruising the Hawkesbury River from Brooklyn in the Postman's Boat, lunch provided, beer $4 a stubby and soft drink $2 a can. Trip lasted 31/4 hours.

George,
I'm jealous.
Did a river dinner cruise in Longreach a coupla years ago... I reckon the Hawkesbury would be a lot more picturesque...
Although $4 a stubby is a bit steep. They're $11/half-dozen at our nearest Aldi!
Even $2 a soft-drink seems a teeny bit of a rip-off!
Wouldn't stop me booking a cruise if we're in the area though... ;)

Ray

Ray, just enjoying the riverboat postie cruise on the Hawkesbury is well worth the overpriced drinks. They have to make their pocket money somewhere! Good one George. I have worked at Broken Bay for as short while (in another century) and our daughter worked on Milsen Island for a few years, both on the riverboat run, so we know the cruise very well. It is always a delightful ride. :D

The sunshine was so amazing today, all the washing is finally done, dried and put away, even my 3 Christmas shirts have been stored away for next Christmas.

Ray,

Aldi do not provide barmaids, sell them singularly or load them onto your boat so that you can transport them up and down the Hawkesbury at approx 2 degrees C, all the while providing a continuous commentary of the history of the river while navigating.

I will add that the three and a half hour cruise for the two of us was a reasonable $90.

Oh dear, Shirley, my "life on the river" was back in the 70's. I just can't remember that much detail, I hope he was a lovely cheeky chap. They all were at that time.
George you are doing a great sales job of that cruise, and it's all true.
