Maybe you could use it for that.
Do the bears get over heated in Vietnam Jon? Is it case of drawing the short straw as to who has to put the ice in the bear or is I a different version of the bear with a bad tooth joke

Well what a difference the inverter fridge is to the absorption one.
I used to get up in the morning to the batteries at around 45% SOC but now it's around 87% !!!
Was using about 375w when "on" & now only 78w & a lot of the time it's 1.7w.
I know I'll still miss the backup security of the gas at times but I'm glad the thing is outside the houseboat for now!
Thinking I'll get it serviced & see if I can get $1,000 for it.

Gee, mine was an angel compared to your Bruce, it only used 21ah from the batteries
How about we do a bulk deal on both our 3 ways...does anybody near you need a large anchor? :)

haha Yours would be already behind a bush along a road somewhere I guess?
There is a bit of demand for them on houseboats & shacks. I think I've found my problem but even with that fixed it'll still use too much electricity for my purposes & using gas is just silly if I have these batteries.
There is a long finned heatsink along the back of the fridge section & the heatsink compound behind it has gone hard & cracked.
I'll store it for now.......... house sale looking good & I'll work on other things for now!
Anyone got an empty 40ft container? lol........ (nope T1 .... told her it was headed for the dump)

Kay is emotionally attached to the old fridge Bruce .. when she thought she was talking to me was actually the fridge ... no wonder she seemed a bit frigid :)
I had mine repaired in Sydney 6 years ago for $1100 and it has worked well, but lately the internal fins were half on, half off. Not a biggy to fix, but...the electric fridge is great and not even an inverter model. I would rather spend $1100 on my solar system than a fridge repair. My beer is cold now Bernie .. and when T1 Lithium is up and running, I'll extend my solar, my controller, and get a Lithium checkup :)

40ft containers are cheap, moving them from Lake Illawarra to Mannum is not cheap how ever  So it might be back to plan .....can't remember the alpha numeric code for that one, but buying the truck in Brisbane and picking up our own 20ft container, packing it and driving it over there. After the shock findings handed down by the Motor Vehicle Accident Authority assessor the bank balance is in tatters and with further legal eagle appointments next week the planned return to Mannum to start up T1 Lithium is set back a tad as well. Will know a bit more mid next week after the barrister visit in Sydney, now hopeful to be over there by mid Feb.... and here was I thinking 2016 was going to be a whole new ball game, not just dragged out into extended time

A note for all contemplating the upgrade to a Samsung inverter 255ltr fridge freezer. It appears the latest model will not run on a 300w inverter, well at least not the JayCar 360w unit. The boys are off to pick up a 400w unit from JayCar that appears to be their latest offering so we are hoping that will solve the problems. The latest model appears to have an auto quick cool feature, something that could be switched off in the earlier models, the energy demand during this short quick cool cycle is too much for the JayCar 360w inverter. looking through the book that came with the inverter it appears as though they overrate the unit as there is note about the alarm sounding at 95% load and cut out at 105% load, so realistically it is really only a 300w continuous supply by the look of it. The fidge will run for around 10 mins, then the beeper starts, another couple of mins and shut down. We tried putting the fridge on shore power to get it down to temp, then this morning opened the fridge doors for 5 mins and plugged back into the inverter.... same deal, after 5 mins the beeping started. It is back in its box and ready for a refund.
