Just musing............
one of these little things is not going to stretch the battery too much at 15watts.
If it was put in a loop for our drinking water tank, you know, just recirculating - chances are it would be pretty darn clean in a short time. Certainly safe.

If you were a fish I think it would be great. Or, you could filter the water on its way in and out of the tank. I have a BEST filter into the tank and a 5 micron and a 1 micron filter out. Water quality has never been an issue

UV water purification has been used for quite a while with good success, many of the top quality water filter systems include a UV light chamber, the bottle water people use either UV light or hydrogen peroxide as the final water cleaner before it is bottled.

Ahh thanks Terry, thats the one I started with then searched for smaller -didnt even notice it didn't have the UV light!

As you point out, its the light that kills ALL the bugs that bother us. Filters -yeah I know, silver, colloids, carbon, 0.5Um, blah blah -they still don't really do the trick. Pretty safe 99.9% of the time as we know, but giardia and a couple of other nasties......
Circulating the water through UV will kill em all. And for 25watts, such a unit could be run most afternoons on excess charge.
Think I might try it, I will keep you all updated
