Dehydrating
Thought I would give the idea of dehydrating frozen vegs for the next trip a go. Did a 500g packet of baby peas & corn, 1kg bag of beans and a 1kg bag of mixed vegs. All packed away in zip lock bags and shall see how they re constitute in a day or so. Any one else done this?

Re: Dehydrating
Had a mate when I was working (21 years ago!
) who had a fruit dryer.
Swore by it - not at it.
Apparently things have progressed a little since 1994...
Food dryers come in various colours now.
Go, Dottie girl!!

Re: Dehydrating
It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Frozen peas often turn into bullets as do dehydrated so I wonder if one cancels out the other or they become that hard you crack teeth on them. I'm still trying to figure out why you would want to dehydrate frozen stuff anyway, it already had its shelf life extended when it was snap frozen from fresh, shouldn't the dehydration process be used on fresh produce to extend it's shelf life?
Friends did mushrooms, apricots, beans and a few other things out of their garden, the mushrooms came out well, the beans sort of, better results snap freezing though. They also bought one of those vacuum pack things, some funny ones with that, flour turns into cement, bread turns into cement, peas turn into something that doesn't look like you'd never want to open the bag, but meat comes out well and it seems to tenderise it.... but a whole chook is a different story, definitely requires the freezer. Wild game dried meat is a good one, cooked up really spicy then sliced and dried, camel, kangaroo, goat, all good to chew on around the campfire with a few beers
