Do yourself a favour, get a Bushman. Great on power usage. It is also easy to repair and if the control panel does fail it has an override switch that turns the compressor on permanent mode, you then monitor the temperature and turn it on and off via the power point until you get back to civilization.

Another vote for the Engel, have had one for 20 years done a lot of klms in a truck, my newest one is 8 years old another was retired at 30 years no problems with any of them.

I've got two Engels and both have been great, a 60lt that's about 10 and a 30lt that's 30 years old, no issues at all. I have a 220lt Waeco in Wilbor that is on its third thermostat but apart from that it has been great also.

My vote would be for Engel :D

Strange the question being "Engel or Waeco" ??
Is this for the number one fridge for the Mercedes bus conversion?
Most I know have changed over to the cheaper, electric, domestic fridges.

He has a new Vitrifrigo in the bus, I take it the engel/waeco is a drinks fridge. Everyone should have a drinks fridge :D

Yes option as a backup freezer rather than a drink fridge, I have an 18 litre Waeco for that.
Cheers

What makes the Bushman a better choice than the Waeco? The Bushman has pieces that can increase its holding capacity, but that does not increase its cooling capacity. Cold falls so the extra capacity on top means the cold stuff is lower down, to get to the cold beer all the warm stuff needs to come out first, stuff that goes off in the warm like milk and meat needs to be lower in the fridge...... so what do you put in the upper part when the add on collars are attached?

We found with the extra collars on we put the stuff that just needed to be kept cold not frozen at the top (butter etc) It worked very well. Kept frozen stuff at the bottom level. We have had both Waeco and Engel but so far found this Bushman to be better plus their service is much better if needed. What ever floats yu boat and works for what you want. Ours is just an extra fridge/freezer.
