It does seem that plasmatronics are up there with it. I better go to the dealer and see what is what. The plot thickens.

This evil bay seller generally has the best price for both the PL20 and Dingo and if you buy at the same time very good prices on the shunt and shunt adapter (plus cable for the PL20) so the unit doubles as a battery monitor http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Plasmatronic ... 416f54a39c i see there is a S/H PL20 on evil bay at the moment as well, I wonder how close to new price it will finish at. Much as I love my PL20's the Dingo is a neater looking unit and does have a few advanced features to the PL20, for the extra $15 from this seller i think that's the way I would go, it might even work out cheaper with a shunt and adapter as a package compared to the PL20 as the Dingo system uses a standard telephone cable between the adpater and main controller, the PL20 needs a proprietory cable that must be purchased as well.

These regulators have had some good reviews.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SOLAR-REGULA ... 53e6adabee

they only give 3 day history but to be honest I rarely look at the history feature on the PL20. If your planning on putting in 400watts of solar and haven't bought the PL20 then I would suggest this regulator or stepping up to the PL40.

Brian has 2 of those regulators, one in his trailer and one for the boat, they are ok but that's about the limit of it. without battery sense wires all these cheaper regulators are very hit and miss when it comes to their voltage switching point.
The PL20 or Dingo controlling a solid state relay can hand any size solar system, I have a PL20 controlling over 100amps input of solar at the moment, it could hand 200 amps without any changes required, except bigger cable maybe, they get a bit hot touch at the moment

I had a 20 A version of this one. Not a good unit - the charging algorithm is very poor, causing the battery to supply the load when the solar could be doing the job. See http://manins.net.au/motorhome/solar.html

I have just ordered the Dingo with shunt adaptor, shunt and DUSB cable. Deal was very competitive. Next stage get it. and figure out the wiring. Won't that be fun upside down under the bed

For anyone that are about to install a regulator can I suggest using the "short Stop" mini breakers rather than blade fuses. I posted a pic on another thread of the remnants of the blade fuse in my system. The constant high current caused it to burn and not blow. I do like the manual reset breakers.
