Water proof Ceiling Vent.

Post by Kelvin12 »

G'Day All,

Looking for waterproof through roof / ceiling vents. Hopefully I can use these to comply with the new LPG regs. might need a couple to do it. I was thinking of the using the round solar power vents and reversing the motor direction, figuring they are dc motors, to pull air in rather than exhaust creating the air flow down and out the side of the bus. Any ideas suggestions appreciated. I had intended or was hoping to use the sky lights but that doesn't look like an approved option as they have to be full time vents. Lower vents are OK I think just need to check out locations of frames etc.

Dirk, the gas regs depends on the size of your gas appliances for the size of the vents. why don't you want to use the normal ones on the side of the bus?? As I said we offset our vents and that stopped the gale winds but still complied. Our top vent is around the 10 inch square but would recommend you use a metal vent for the outside the plastic ones are RS..

G'Day Dot,

I understand the sizes thing but over 6m, (eg. 12m) you are required to have a minimum size / number, getting them into the cross flow thing is another problem, depends on the gas fitters idea of cross flow. Mine has a side isle with slides so limited to where the vents can go. Problem is getting the cross flow within the area!!!. Need the waterproof roof vent to get this thing going. Lower vents are OK, I think. If all else fails its a DIY roof vent.

Craig has these fitted by Winnebago. They are an available vent. PM him if he doesn't comment soon.

I think Jon is referring to the Maxxair vents. They fit over the top of the 14" x 14" standard vent. Great item and well worth fitting.

I believe what you will need is a roof vent with a permanent air flow ventilation system. ie when the hatch lid is closed it still allows air to flow through the vent. The Fiama range has one for this situation. It is the 28cm x 28 cm Without fan 008640 or Turbo - with fan 008641. There are other brands available, speak to Camec or Coast to Coast.

I have seen people blocking the vent in the lower section of the door on their MH's claiming that they are trying to maintain the warm or cold in the MH. This vent is a requirement for the gas certification as is the roof vent. I only mention this for the benefit of those that don't realise this, by the sound of it you have a handle on it Dirk.

Can those roof vents be totally closed off??

Oops, I meant to put the Camec link for the vent

And no Dot, they can't be totally closed off. Some of them are designed to allow air flow even when the lid is wound down. If you have a close look at it you will see a vent/grid built into the lid. This allows air flow around the outer edge of the lid.

The round solar vents come with 2 fans, one for venting in and one for venting out. You just put in whichever one you want
