En Route To WA Wildflowers

Post by Greynomad »

Greetings from the vast metropolis of Yalgoo, WA!
We've nearly reached our starting point of Geraldton. Only 120-or-so kilometres to go.
This is our THIRD attempt at seeing the wildflowers south of Geraldton.
Coupla years ago, on our 3yr odyssey around Oz, we followed the blooming from Broome to Geraltdon, then stayed there 4 weeks, and missed the bloomings southward.
Regards & God bless,
Ray

No, we came cross-country.
Nyah, Barmera, Peterborough,Wudinna, Yalata (on the Nullarbor), Madura, Kalgoorlie, head north, turn left at Leinster, Mt Magnet, a quick lunch-stop at Sandstone (nice little town in the middle of :? nowhere-in-particular) then current o'night stop (also in middle of nowhere ;) ), with the Mullewa Wildflower Festival (100-odd km west) in the next few days as our destination.
Follow the bloomings south to Perth & beyond, then home across the Nullarbor again.
:D
Regards & God bless,

That is a top little caravan jail at Yalgoo. Go out and have a look at jockers tunnel. Not much else to do in the area except for happy hour at the pub every afternoon ;) . Enjoy the wild flowers.

The wreath flowers are out now at Pindar, 30 kms west of Mullewa, turn left before wheat silo, cross old railway line, turn left onto gravel, travel 9.3 kms, at the fork the most flowers are on the right hand track on both sides of the road. Info centre at Mullewa has all the local info as do most of the other info centres as well.
Kalbarri NP has masses of flowers, plenty of orchids at Canna dam, camp behind hall, limited power 4 x 15 amp outlets, hot shower $10 donation campsite.
Lesueur NP has a great range of flowers as of today and will get better

I was contacted by Rays wife Joy over the weekend letting me know that Ray had been flown to the Royal Perth Hosp with a # femur. He lost his footing coming down their MH steps and that was that, No phone coverage and it took about 4 hrs for assistance to get to them. Luckily there were others around to help out. Anyway he was to have been operated on Sunday but due to a few bad prangs his op was put off until Yesterday (Tues) Heard from Joy tonight to say Ray is very sore and shall be in hosp for roughly another week. I understand He and Joy will fly home and the MH etc shall be organised by good old KT. More updates as they become available. So Ray if you have your tappatalk thingo with you we are all wishing you an uneventful recovery and a pleasant trip home. If you didn't want to looking at sissy flowers you should of said so not make such a drama of it. :) Next year they say the blooms will be better anyway...

So sorry to hear of Ray's accident, certainly not the way they wanted to finish this journey; but health is everything and hopefully next year will be better. Glad to hear KT has come to the party for them.

Cheers
