Very nice, each photo opens into another photo gallery. I would love to build a Lombie, one of those 2 side door long kombis but everything else looks original, no twin rear axles or slammed or flared guards, just a stoke looking long body kombi so it has both the kitchen eating area and full seating/bed

Forget about the $$, getting permission from the boss to take on such a project would be near enough to impossible

All left hand drive units, any idea of the date the photo was taken? I wouldn't mind betting there are maybe 5 out of the whole lot still one the road fully restored, the rest became chook pens or kids cubby houses.... or just abandoned where they died. Let's face it, if they had all survived they would be worth anything like they are now

Some wild imaginations on show...
I particularly liked the mini-kombi and the kombis with trailers cobbled together from kombi parts cut & shut...
one with the rear half of a kombi (including sliding side door) with the face welded on, the other with the front half (complete with hinged front doors) and the tail welded on.
I have actually seen an Australian version of the split-screen model with the top half of a beetle welded onto the roof for head room in a whizz-bang.
The kombi-as-boot-box must have taken some considerable work detailing the lights & number-plate area.
:D
