It is my understanding that an engineer's certificate is required for
1) the modification on the TOAD by fitting the bracket to the chassis &
2) the A frame itself

Hitch n Go have accredited installers and will not sell one direct. Their compliance plate is attached to the hitch and is engraved with the TOAD rego number. The advice I have from the Roadmaster dealer is that an engineer's certificate is required to be legal. I am a bit tempted to install one myself and plead ignorance should anyone wish to see a compliance plate/certificate.

I must of missed your post, sorry about that, The hitch that we are getting is the Falcon 2 fitted with the invisi brake system, all up including the engineers certificate is $5790.00, this is from a supplier who does a fair bit of this work for a local major supplier of motorhomes, he came highly recommended and has had 30 + years in the business.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Chris
Thanks Chris, my preferred system is the Falcon 2 with the Invisi Brake too. I have looked at the Hitch n Go, Ready Brute and Roadmaster and out of them all I really like the idea of the Invisi Brake. Richard from Janer has been really helpful and prompt with his advice and his quote. I think I will be installing it myself as there is no-one in NQ to do it, I have done a fair bit of research on installing it and the hardest bit will getting a voltage reducer fitted to WILBOR as it is 24 volts, I'll get a local autosparkologist to do that bit me thinks. I will also get the Roadmaster stone guard, it is a tad expensive but so is the TOAD!!!

I have ordered a Roadmaster Falcon 2 hitch with an invisibrake, bracket for Suzy, safety cables and wiring diodes. Had to get a 10" hi/lo hitch as well as the towbar on Wilbor is 71cm off the ground. Going to fit it myself (maybe with a bit of help from our local autosparkologist). The Bracket and the Invisibrake should be no dramas but I am not too sure about finding the brake and park light circuits in the wiring loom for the invisibrake and the lights. I also have to buy and fit a voltage reducer for the trailer lights as Wilbor is 24v.

Should be here next week so looks like I know what I will be doing in early February :)

If you don't have a workshop manual, get yourself a test lamp, (cheap as chips) from the likes of Repco. Go the whole hog and get a 24v one, works on 12v as well but the 12v's don't like 24v at all. Check under the dash of the toad, behind the brake pedal will be a small switch probably with 2 wires coming from it. Stick the test light into one of them, if it doesn't light up that's the earth, (negative) if it light up then that the supply, (hot wire)(positive). Follow the instructions as to what Invis brake says from there on. Some of these brake wiring things are a bit confusing as to what to hook up to the unit, supply or earth to make the thing operate.

Are you going to fit it yourself Bob? Have you organised an engineer to sign off on the RTA paperwork?
