Sorry Jd I can't copy and past on my iPad . If you go to eBay and look up bit deals 91074 that might help otherwise. Look up inverter charger . It was on special 600 down from 1500

One of the W7 type, a bit heavy on the stand by power but I'm looking at having some made with toroidal transformers to reduce the standby/waste power https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toroidal_ ... ansformers. All things for the future, part of an overall project to build an inverter that turns on stages progressively as the load increases so very low power items like a phone charger don't drag big loads because it's trying to power an inverter designed to handle 3,000w continuous.

When I get it sorted I reckon I might make quite a few Ray ;) There doesn't seem to be anything on the market that can achieve this yet, maybe it's just too hard or expensive to do, I'll find out I guess

A number of others similar if you follow it through.

Cheers.

There are a few stories getting about regarding that thing, something like $2,000 worth of gear to do the upgrade, the unit is already around the $600 mark so not much of a saving when compared to a Victron 3,000w unit. If I can't get it all to work some where in the $1,000 area then I'll give it a miss I think.

I don't think it can be done.

The inverter has 3 major parts.

DC to DC (12 to 380V DC ish)

FET swiches (DC to chopped 240)

Then the Sine wave shaping.

While the FET's have very little current draw, the majority is in the DC-DC convertor. The bigger, the less effiecent under light loads.

To get the idea working, you progressively need to 'turn on" seperate DC-DC sections. The cost and size will be the challenge.

An alternative is to use multiple Grid tie micro inventors and progressively switch them on.
