They don't even think the rest of the world have moved beyond knuckle dragging I think, here is the reply to the email

Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, the shipping cost that is being calculated is correct. Due to the dimensions of the package (33" x 21" x 13"), UPS calculates the cost using dimensional weight rather than actual weight. The dimensional weight of the package, as calculated by UPS, is 66 lbs.

If we can assist you further, please let us know.

So I thought, what the hell, so I sent them a semi polite reply

Dear americanrvcompany,

Don't take this personally but as a bit of advice. May I suggest you tell UPS to wake up to themselves because they are a joke. I bought the complete Fantastic vent unit from another Ebay US seller and the freight was AU$89 including packaging in a second protective box 17' square x 13' high and was at the door in under 7 days in the Christmas rush period.
Try FedEx via Aistralian Air Express or DHL as an example for a proper freight price. If US EBay seller want to sell to the rest of the world they need to take Amazon's, Think Geek's and many other internet sellers example and start dictating terms to the rip off freight mobs instead of it being the other way around.

I wonder what their response will be

I must have misunderstood what you were after. I thought you were after a vent that would suit the gas law requirements? ie allow ventilation even when the lid was closed. My earlier post referred to Maxxair vent covers, which are installed over an existing 40 x 40 cm wind up vent (with or with a fan). Do the Maxxfans allow ventilation when closed?

Doesn't look like it Craig http://www.maxxair.com/maxxfan-standard ... ntrol.html the 4500K looks a flasher unit than the Fantastic vent I bought, isn't that always the way  I know when I was doing the searching there was a uniut that still had exhaust ventilation even with the hatch closed but I'm not sure which unit it was now, maybe the Fiamma unit?

Craig,

Apparently there is some free flow air when the MaxxFans/Vents are closed but just how much I can't seem to find out. They mention 6 or 9 cubic (cfm), (from memory) at full open with the fan at top speed under power. But that's running, not free flowing un-powered. As I understand/read the LPG stuff it needs to be a constant free flow closed of 210 centre meters/2 (cm/2) with the same flow at top and bottom vents. 4 seasons has this flow rate closed according to Camec and meets the requirements, but going on some of the comments here they also leak...... Probably possible to make up a fibreglass waterproof cover similar to MaxxFans/Vents to overcome this but its an expensive vent to have to modify to get what's needed.

I am led to understand that if ANY ventilation system is able to be completly shut off then it will not meet the gas regs and there has to be a specified size of the vents..
