Where is this?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

No takers?

OK, try this one for size... ;) :P

That's not a piston.
THIS is a piston!

THIS is a piston!.jpg
:? Some mechanic had a real job replacing piston rings...
So where would you find it displayed?

BTW, that's standard corrugated iron on 3x2s... not mini-orb!

Would it be from a ships engine? Maybe the Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour?

Is it out of a truck or another heavy vehicle ? I had one like that and was used as an ashtray :)

Dottie,
It would have to be one helluva truck!!
That piston is about 12" across!
Not answering your questions, David & Bagmaker... that would give it away! ;)

BTW David, you're location guess is wrong. :D

What throws me is the lack of a rubbing block where the piston rod remains straight and the pivot is between the rubbing block and the second conrod attached to the crankshaft. This says it is a smaller capacity motor, possibly a diesel electric loco or diesel power generator at a mine site, shape in the piston crown says to me it is pre-combustion type engine and not direct injection, the 3 compression rings and 2 oil control rings says it is an older design motor, so I'll take a stab at a museum dedicated to electric power generation.
