Went and got a mt of wadding today and did a sample pelmet. 1 end padded and the other end unpadded. Decided we liked the unpadded look better so I did the smallest one, Turned out ok so shall give the rest a go, can always undo them and try again,

flat is good, seems to stay much neater. I sewed a row of smooth velcro onto the back of the top of the fabric. Then I stapled the prickly side onto the wooden pelmets. When its time to wash or replace, you just have to rip rip and they are all off and easy to put back up once washed.

Just thought, what about the ends Deborah? they are the toughest things to try to get neat?

Well within your capabilities my friend. It also gives a great finished product. Our earliest van was a tiny roadstar and it had the pelmets done that way. So each time i have done a new curtains and redecorate, I have used this method....all quick and easy. Jayco had a million staples holding the padded pelmets on, it was a nightmare to remove them. But I had to take the timber pelmets down that were next to the wardrobes. They had to be shortened so that I could open the bloody doors! Now they all look great!

My whip will be back from the framers soon. Openable frame is a belated Christmas present from SWMBO, who gave me the whip for birthday-before-last (which was the subject of a Beatles song ).
Frame has to be openable, so's I can take the whip out for regular exercise.
Is there a message there???

(Whipmaker recommended exercising it every three months, at least, otherwise it'll dry up & crack.)

Re your pelmets:
I've always found a simple mitre-cut on the bench saw quite adequate...

I know this will not help you George and Dot but my give someone ideas later when reading your thread.Our home arrived bare windowed!!, only a few days to work on it before work. Installed roller blinds and lace curtain but needed a pelmet to hide the blind etc. Thanks to a few Industrial Arts teachers on the NSW south coast this is what I made on the road.
