Changed my rego from NSW to Victoria and they are very easy people to deal with. As long as the vehicle is currently registered as in like say NSW then there is no inspection at all just a letter from a resident in Vict. saying the vehicle is normally garaged down there. I still retain my NSW driver license and NSW rego on the toad. Seems it harder to get it registered in the first occasion down there for some reason no idea why or how. A Vict. friend had no end of trouble registering a 5th wheeler as they couldn't find a classification for it in the caravan motor home range. They wound up registering it as a heavy trailer ???? My 12M, 16 odd tonne bus came under a caravan. Much cheaper down there and a hell of a lot easier to deal with. Makes a change going into Vic Roads office and not being treated like the enemy as it is in NSW.

Looks like I'll miss out on that bit of luck Bruce as this bus is said to be (I will check) a 1994 model. Therefore not enough years. Of course it could take 3-15 years to fit out. Ha.

How well did it drive over? Does it have the flat 6 cyl 210 little pony engine (now way it was 210HP) or have they improved things as far as performance goes?

Looks good Bob. 
Initially thought the photo was taken at the purchasing location but then Mrs C recognized the undies on the line.
At least, whilst your working on the interior, you could always use the bus to tow the van ... that way you wouldn't loose any construction time on the bus.

I can tell you one certainty:
RWC from any one state is not acceptable in any other.
We are still six colonies!
We bought Girt (see avatar ->) in Coffs Harbour, NSW with a one-week-old NSW RWC.
VicRoads would not transfer rego with that cert... had to have a VICTORIAN RWC! $300, ta very much.
And the first bloke I took it to was an idiot. Insisted the Winnebago Explorer was a bus conversion, and therefore needed an exhaust stack to take the outlet above the roofline!!! Showed him the manufacturer's plate by the door... not convinced. Even offered to ring Winnebago in Emu Plains for him to talk to the manufacturer... not interested.
So I took it elsewhere, and refused to pay his inspection fee ($300). Told him to stick it where the sun don't shine, and I'd report the incident to VicRoads & have him de-licenced if he insisted on payment.
Funnily enough, I heard nothing further from him.

You must have dealt with a different VicRoads office! Girt was registered in NSW, but that cut no mustard with the office I dealt with.
(And it's not the first time I've dealt with them. When I moved from NSW to Vic 45 yrs ago (!) I dealt with a different office, but the same attitude. Had to have a VIC RWC... and the inspection bloke insisted I remove the compressor for the air-horns I had fitted to my car before he would give me the RWC.)
More recently (4 yrs ago) when I took our single-axle Tilta-trailer (also NSW registered) to get it registered in Vic, they told me that in this state, a car trailer - by definition - has TWO axles! Single-axle units did not exist in their database. Ended up registering it as a box-trailer...

Still, there is one advantage to Vic registration: anything from a 2m box-trailer to a 10m fiver is classified as a "trailer" and costs the same to register... now $45.
And if your trailer is less than 2m long, you don't need rego. They'd prefer a duplicate of your car plate on it, but it's not mandatory.

Ray the "high exhaust outlet" requirment has been obsolete for a few years now, I would be sending a bill for my time to the Vicroads office if they got that wrong. Still remains on their website last time I looked though

Makes you wonder what system they use to rate the motors, particularly when you compare them to the old 210 (555) Cummins, they had testicles, If you got a good one it would go for ever, but if you got a bad one.that was why they were known as the Triple Trouble! Though I believe most of that was up to the driver, they were designed for round town delivery, garbage truck type of work, didn't respond well to highway work, long hours of constant high revs.

The 210hp Cummins was the big brother to the 185hp type writer that got its name from the high rev rattles that sounded more like typing pool than a busy engine as they topped out at around 3,700rpm. The triple nickel (555) was supposed to be rated at 215hp but I'm sure that was conservative and maybe the bottom of the range as there were 275hp normally aspirated units available as well, they were the first to accept a turbo without scattering the innards on the roadway. Their weaknesses were max revs, the 3300rpm was only suited for a max of 2 hrs, 2700rpm was continuous duty, the rear timing case with the power steer pump hanging off the rear, use that to access the cab roof meant a cracked case, the flywheel tended to get the wobbles if not very carefully mounted because there was an adapter plate between the crank and flywheel for some weird reason.
The real comparison of hp and torque in a 210hp class motor would have to be the Cat 3208. As long as you could get the head gasket issue sorted they went for ever and could be boosted out to 700hp and still hold together. The derated 175hp 3208 would out pull the Hino 210hp in a passenger bus up the first hill of the Great Western Hwy out of Parramatta. Surprisingly to all that witnessed it, a 351 Cleveland running LPG and a 4 speed Alison was even stronger and faster although the higher rpm might have given it a bit of an advantage, a 351 Cleveland on full noise @ 6,500rpm was certainly impressive hauling a 40ft bus with standing passengers in the isle...... but I did get an earful when I got back to the yard
