If Terry says to go a certain road then be sure it is NOT the way to go unless you have a 4x4 that has been bush bashing for 50 years and you dont scare easy and you have checked the brakes and your life insurance policy.

Re: Where's Pet-els?
As you all know I'm on the road headed for Mannum.
On the Sturt Hwy 25k east of Euston, a new White Ford Mustang passed me like a blur followed by a sports coupe. The Mustang passed the vehicle in front [Toyota van] the other was about to do the same when there was a flurry of feathers as the Mustang changed the bonnet mascot from a horse to an EMU, the other vehicle stopped behind the Mustang and the two people in the Mustang got out [not a young couple] he slammed the door. I was unable to see the front of the mustang as I was manouvering around the Emu and all the feathers.
Now I kept driving to Euston at 90k but the Mustang never caught up with me, It must have died.
Now I'm in the BIG 4 at Mildura with the A/C on and used the pool to cool off, still 35* in the 5'er.

Condolences to the emu's family, nothing but contempt for the mad drivers. Enjoy your swim Peter

Re: Where's Pet-els?
It was a wet and high humidity day here Peter so you made a good choice..... Does this mean the new Mustang isn't really built for Australian conditions
Pity about the emu but they taste great cooked up on the BBQ so if you see any more fresh road kill like that pop it in the freezer
Camel is great eating as well, but I'm guessing it would take a truck to knock one of those over and there probably wouldn't be much worth eating by the time the truck was finished with it.

Dunno about how good camel tastes, but I reckon that it isn't as good as crocodile.T1 Terry wrote:It was a wet and high humidity day here Peter so you made a good choice..... A few years back my brother was a train driver on the Cook to Norseman run across the Nullabor. They used to actively try to stop the train if there was a camel on the track. Apparently with the big long neck it wasn't uncommon for the head to hit the windscreen.
I have had the mis-fortune to be a passenger in a car that has hit an emu. It's a bit like hitting a brick pillow at 100 kmh. Big bang and then feathers everywhere. Never a good result for the emu.
Cheers
