Ray, I seek your advice. Note the time of your post -12 midnight. Was this the last post for 2016 or the first post for 2017?Greynomad wrote:We walked out of a Jimoein show when, after a warm-up 'comedian' who thought dropping the F-bomb was humour, the man himself started the show with a tale using both the F- and C- bombs!
I wrote to the man's manager, expressing our anger, as he can do an entire series of TV shows without using either word, and that our next-door neighbours came along... with their 10-y-o daughter!
I pointed out that there was no warning in the advertising that coarse language would be used, and demanded a refund for the five of us.
A cheque arrived within the week!
I complained to a TV network about the constant language in their new cop show. Yes, there was a warning...but in every sentence?? I was informed that because it's used in society, then they felt that it was okay to have in a TV show. I was reminded recently that the movie that has made the most box office money (taking into account inflation) is "Gone with the wind" (1939) and there was no language in that (except 'damned'). I suppose that in general society even then language was used - but not in the movies. There have been some good films in the past decade that have had to use the 'f' word at least once - perhaps to get an M rating instead of PG? Then again, some of the things that are said in PG are not what most parents would want their children to hear.Lance wrote:On the language thing, I have on the odd occasion been known to drop the F word and I have been castihgated more than once for doing so.

We went to OH WHAT A NIGHT! - A Musical Tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons a coupla year ago and even I was staggered at the language used.
Yeah, OK, it may have been used amongst the group in real life but there was no reason to blow it up and glorify it as much.
Several did leave the theatre well before interval.
