if it has been sitting for 12 months, it could have a blocked/jammed valve and only needs an adjustment. How much have you tested it, or adjusted the gearing, you may find by adjusting the gearing, it will pull the valve open. You could also change the fluid and filters, if the fluid is old and been sitting they can tend to not provide the right pressure to open some valves. Or take it for a good drive so it really heats up, then it may free the valves.
Clutch pack burnt out, very common as the gearbox was never designed to carry that weight or tow, just a car gearbox with a different back end bolted on. Some add after market turbos to the diesel engine, maybe 100,000 kms at best and the tranny goes up in smoke but then it's 3rd gear that dies.
