Guido van Helten and the painted Silos

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

errr... link has a bit missing from it Lance?
Yep, I heard about it going to be done.
I bet a few who are battling to pay their electricity bills can't see the benefit of it though!

Great stuff! What a brilliant artist to do such lifelike almost photographic representations of people's faces on such a huge scale.

Not everyone is going to see the benefits to their town Bruce although I believe most residents and businesses would be supportive of the artwork.

That said, at one of these towns we visited to see the silos we heard a surprising story from the lady looking after the campground.
She told us the publican 'hated' tourists, and after a short stop at his pub I totally believed her.
He was arrogant and unfriendly on this reasonably busy Sunday arvo.
This town had little in the way of operating businesses but the pub was the only one open on the day.
No servo, general store or anything else.
If it was me I'd be there at 'the shop' with all me bells and fancy clothes on and only too happy to chat to visitors and possibly lighten their wallet/purse just a little. Some who are in business just shouldn't be.

But yeah, a great initiative and a great result in the ones completed.
