Commodore scan tool?

Anyone got or know about using a scan tool on a VZ 2005 Commodore?
I think I've got the common oil pressure sending unit failure & after I replace it I need to remove the fault code.
It can't be done with the Mode buttons.

I have one and it works with my Falcon, should be fine on a Commodore.
Mine is a USB connected device and I run it from my laptop.
Need to download the software for it too, but that's pretty easy.
Welcome to a loan if you want, but I'm at Seaford, down south of Adelaide.
The're pretty cheap on ebay too and you can get Bluetooth so that it will work on a tablet.

Bernie do you know if you can delete a fault warning with it or just read them?

yes, with the software you can reset fault codes.
Been a while since I've used it, so I'd have to search for the software again.

Hi Bruce, the basic ODBII scanners will fit the Commodore.

You can reset the codes... I'm not sure if they read the oil pressure as it would just be a pressure switch I think.

Mind you, I'm thinking about the V6 Buik engine and not the new commodore V6.

Hi Bruce
One thing you could try is disconnect the battery for 5 to 10 minutes then re start the car. Sometimes the code may stay up and by disconnecting the battery it puts it into history and wipes out the light.
If this doesn't work then you will need the scan tool. If you are in the RAC of some type they may do it for free instead of charging a fee.
This has worked in the past sometimes.

I turned up at this chaps place at 8:15AM, he had it plugged in & verified it was the oil pressure monitor/switch which I thought it was. It is very easy to get to & change by just reaching over the radiator.
Fri morn I'll swap it in & then back to remove the fault that remains logged in the onboard computer.
I'm going to miss that fault music!! Almost burned into my brain by now!
Might record it, put it on a USB stick & play it on repeat? lol

Bruce,

In the Buick V6 ECU/BCU, the chimes are wav files. If you know how, you can break into the chip and recode it with your own message.

mmm... I'm guessing the Buick motor isn't the Alloytec cokecan motor?
Be good if I could recode it to "She'll be comin' round the mountain" ??
Or "give me 40 acres"??
