I will second what both Shirley and Peter have said. We have been members of the CMCA for around 19 years and on the road since 2001.

When we first started out dump points were few and far between and no RV Friendly towns anywhere and although we have never joined a chapter and have only attended one rally in that time I think my membership of a measly $44 a year has helped in the establishment of hundreds of dump points and many many RV Friendly towns.

These facilities have been established through the efforts of the CMCA and are there for all not just for their own members but for all travellers including Caravanners and the CMCA knockers!

I have been a member of the CMCA for 6 years. 18 months ago we even started a new chapter in Tasmania, focused on 5th wheelers but welcoming for motorhomes and caravans. We are only small but we have a bit of fun and enjoy meeting mainlanders who look us up when they come down south for the summer.

Member stop overs, dump points, $10 caravan park stays and CMCA low cost camping sites are some of the benefits.

I also endorse what Shirley said a few posts back.

Live and let live is a good rule to live by.

Of course there are variations to that rule.

With regard to Tasmania, I assume there are CMCA Chapters over there, do they get many mainlanders going across for musters/gatherings or it it generally locals only ?

We, the "Devil Wheelers" average about 1 visitor every two meetings. The wife and I have visited the Cocodile Wheelers in Queensland on two occsions if the dates line up.

Hi just my 5 cents worth!
When Adele and I decided to do the bus thing, the internet aka the CMCA forum plus visit to major rally (Mudgee) was the catalyst to get things going. Joined as above 'The Forum" for eminence information and then the Ken Tame bit. But the shite hit the fan, Forum closed about the same time Adele was seeing doctors more. But I still needed more information motorhome wise, it was a while before I found a site that indicated that this site existed.
Now to bring this all into prospective, last visit to cmca forum/site 5 weeks ago. Last visit to a CMCA sponsored dump site; a lota years ago! VISITS to this site Lurking and reading regularly.
But I don't mind paying Cheap $$$ 44 for my future visits to get rid of something in a manor that is acceptable.
PS We would have liked to have gone to at least one Major rally (like Mudgee) but unfortunately due to Adele's health and timing we could not attend the many that have past, but Bundaberg was on for 2017 to which I will now go alone. Life goes on! But unfortunately I will not be able to attend a Lithium battery master course because the MASTER will not be there.   Yes buts my 5 cents worth.

Thank for sharing Wayne. I agree the $44 is good value for the services available. We have only been to two rallies (Forbes and Robinvale). Enjoyed both, thought most of the time we were our exploring on my bike. We met some truly amazing people in the CMCA over the years but alas most are no longer members, but quite a few are still out and about. It is no doubt a challenge for you venturing out on your own but you will find good company among the solos. We wanted to join their SIG but being married did not quite fit their profile criteria. We did offer to get a divorce LOL.

Have fun at Bundaberg. If you see a couple of geriatrics riding a Triumph Bonneville that will be us. :D
