Don't seem to be getting any solar I know it's a bit wet but there seem to be a drain on the batteries when nothing is switched on the sun

Re: What wrong
Wayne,
Had the same problem in Tas some years ago.
Couple of days of overcast & it seemed the solar panels were not generating any voltage.
Took it to solar specialist in Hobart, who checked wiring, connections, etc., etc...
His verdict (and I quote):
"Not enough sunshine, Sunshine!"
I suggest you wait until you've had a few days of sunny weather with no input before panicking...

Re: What wrong
I'm guessing the out is equal or greater than what's coming in, so it doesn't show anything going into the battery and might even show some coming out. Just because an inverter or other gear is turned off doesn't mean it is not using some power to keep itself alive waiting for the one switch to be pressed. These loads are known as "Parasitic" loads because they use power without actually giving anything back to show some value for what (watt) they are using.... I know bad pun but I couldn't help itMrcoolabah1au wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2017 10:27 pm Good check the ssr solar connections multi meter said there some amps coming through but were Do go now![]()

Basically you get nothing for nothing, if you want it to turn on at the press of a button it costs some battery energy to provide that service, without it you will have the long warm up period we all remember from the old black and white TV days when they have valves instead of transistors.

Wayne are you USING the motorhome or is it just parked up?
What is turned on? Fridge plus ????
Sometimes we just expect to be able to use more & more. All these fantastic gadgets do drain power quicker!!

Re: What wrong
I've been on the road for four months now, Victoria to Qld, without a battery charger (Had to go back to manufacturer shortly after leaving Vic). Can't charge the batteries without solar or alternator. Sure is a good way to keep me on my toes. If the battery goes flat, I can't even go to a CVP Jail or use the Genny to recharge. Also says a lot for the ability of LFPs to quickly accept charge when it's available.
