I've read quite a few stories of campers stopping for smoko, or overnight, and having their hot exhaust set fire to the patch of spinifex they parked on. :(

In my 4x4 days you were tought to ( depending on terrian ,desert grass) stop every now and then in the grassy stuff and check for spinifex under the vehicle near the muff etc...

Them's fighten words, everyone knows there is enough oil under a kombi to allow anything to slide straight through :lol:

:lol: Not oil but cool air is the issue for no.3 cyl, that is why the distributor cam is off set on no.3 firing so it is slightly retarded compared to the other 3 cyls to assist in the head cooling. Put the distributor in wrong or use an optic chopper plate for the electronic ignition not designed for a Kombi and suffer the consequences, no.3 cyl will drop an exhaust valve on a long hill climb for sure.
