Hi Tom, now it comes back to me it was you asking about decal removal. Have a look at my post in the Banal thread..

Tom there are a few different awning brands and I think there is a hard cover suitable for your type.
There is another brand that winds out and doesn't need supporting legs but I wouldn't want to use it if there was ANY wind around.
It's only the very top of the first (or last?) wound up roll that cops it. You could probably get a new rope section stitched on at least twice without losing much length or width?
I'll see if I can find a link to the hard cover. Do you know the length of it?
Soft cover?

Re: Protecting Awnings
Tom, we had one made for our van.
Above the awning we have an extra sail track, and in it slides a piece of canvas as long as the awning and about 8inches wide. At either end there are eyelets through which is threaded a bungy rope thing that holds the tiny awning from flapping off when on the road.
When the awning is out, it just covers the top little bit of awning and when it's all rolled up , it covers the top of the roll from the sun.
Hope this helps
Deborah

Re: Protecting Awnings
Tom that sounds similar to the one on Ebay I posted the link to?
If it was me I think I'd have a few more centre tiedowns.

Re: Protecting Awnings
Yes Tom, that's the one on ebay. At least it looks the same as the one that we had made by a canvas guy for a bit less than the ebay price. The sail track isn't very dear either.
We did add extra tie downs and the movement on some rough roads caused the awning to get a couple of tiny wear marks that became so thin they wore very small holes in the awning. So the extra tie downs are not a good idea.
