How the hell does a snake get on a houseboat anyway? Ohhhhh, did he have his ramp thingy out? Dangerous those houseboats.

All snakes swim, some more than others. The ones that like frogs for lunch have been known to find a spot closer to the dinner table to sleep off a good feed so tied up close to the bank amongst the trees even with no gang plank out would be a great spot for an opportunist snake to have a quick nap between feeds

Not sure where Mr Snake is now!!
I'm back in the Marina but I still look where I'm walking.
I heard one chap say the snakes sleep on the pontoons & travel with you. They can come up through the gaps in the decking anytime ....
Where we were parked up we were nose into the reeds & rushes so they'd easily climb aboard.
When grapes used to be picked by hand the tiger snakes were often found up in the vines.
Terry won't see many at his home because Crunchy will be on guard ..... (yeah right!!!)

Any snake that swims as a second choice would much rather swim than take on something many times bigger than it is. They only bite if they are trying to defend themselves or their young and that is far more likely to happen on land rather than on a house boat. They aren't real keen on vibrations either because that is one of their self protection senses, so the vibration on the engine starting up generally gets them looking for some where else to be. A lot of You Tube vids of snakes who decided to sleep under the car bonnet trying to get to safer ground once the engine starts up but get themselves tangled up in the fan belts and make an awful mess of things.

Ha you found some gold on that property, a bus is enough of a money pit but at least it can only sink as far as the axles !

Our corella Pete is the best ever alarm when it comes to those slippery slimey things, she really goes off and we always check when she does that she has seen the demise of 2 of her alerts (one I showed somewhere else and got the fan going) As I say, not on my property you don't.
