Bromus Dam

Post by Peter »

Bromus Dam WA justa short distance from Norseman heading to Esperance it is on your RHS poorly signed so have to look out fot the turnoff. A pleasant spot with lots of bird life in the afternoons. The dam was constructe to collect water for steam trains. The dam itself is stone pitched the workmanship of those old timers was great. Their is a pleasant walk back up to where they diverted the water which is interesting in itself. Plenty of room easy to collect firewood for a camp fire.. The dam is used for swimming by locals . When passing we always spend a night or two. One time had perfect radio reception for state of orign.

Salmon Gums half way between Norseman & Esperance is a wonderful tiny van park. i think in 2010 12 paid $10 for the night. So well looked after - then anyway.

Thanks Peter we also took a look at this spot in late Feb. 2012 but it did not have a good fell to it at that time a couple of strange people and campsite way back past the dam so we went back and camped at Dundas Rocks ....it is a little more off the road..

Cheers Ros.
