Methinks you'd better put a comfortable seat on the to do list for you know who...

I recall the hassles you went through with the Troopy... & that passenger seat!

Hello Toolman, Chuck and Dot, and everyone, it looks like I missed a couple of posts in the dim-darks. Toolman the modification plate attached by the authorities says only 'Seating Reduction', no quantity. I only discovered that they had added the plate due to your query, and I am a bit surprised in the lack of detail. The remaining seats are all original ie. not a true 'modification'. Chuck, (dammit I keep typing 'Chick' due to seeing it here somewhere) I have been given a brand new Mazda 3 front seat minus the headrest. I will be talking in the future to an engineer re the use of this seat for Mrs K. Reckon I will be able to pick up a head restraint, and the remaining original passenger seats will be removed. D&G gave us recliners for the 'lounge' and we will only really need two belted seats. Passengers won't be a priority. Dot, would love to be 'out there' but the fit-out is at a stand-still. Tony is still with us and beyond that we are just waiting on a lotto win. Simples. The repair costs put us back a long way and unlike the state government we haven't got a bank, electricity company or a lands titles office to sell. Terry has a fridge at his place so we are saving for that. Glad you are getting about.

Yes Dot, it's been tough, but I am glad to see you are as bright as ever. No I am not ready to get into the bus yet. Now that we are able, I have to tizzy the troopy and caravan and get rid of them, and that won't happen overnight. Among other things, the vinyl on the front of the van has shrunk and pulled out from the angle surrounding the boot lid. I'm hoping to replace the vinyl with checkerplate aluminium. That at least will be a start. MrsK probably has other ideas but we will see.
Regards,
Bobk

Bob

Might be best to research the price of ally. It's can be surprisingly expensive.

It might be cheaper, and much easier to replace the vinyl. Especially making the radius/curve.

With the ally it will be difficult to get a nice clean curve, the vinyl will wrap around.

(You could make an ally trim/facade that fits all around the edge of the boot lid and covers the shrinkage.)

Thanks for the comments jd. The vinyl looks pretty crappy so the whole needs to be done. I have seen aluminium sheet simply put over the top and butting up to the existing edge trim and it looks fine. Maybe some more thought will help (read procrastination). :D .
