K Pod campers

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

K Pod campers

Post by Craig »

Has anyone had any experience with these campers. I like the compact size but am concerned that the bed is 1.8 x 1.2. Thoughts?

Craig, I can't comment specifically about K-Pod but we do have a Teardrop and have done many Klms and trips in it.

The major thing you need to realise is that it's not a caravan.
The vast majority of your time will be spent outside the TD.
That said, the majority of time spent in the TD will be in/on the bed.
If you're concerned about the size of the bed in that particular unit and it can't be made larger, I'd strongly suggest you do some more research and look a bit further.
TDs really are a great way to travel if that's the sort of travel you want to do, and you can do it in comfort if you put enough thought into it before you buy.

Thanks Lance,
It will be used when I am in the gold fields, not so much for traveling. I like the fact it is small because I intend towing it with the jimny. But the bed size is my concern.

Sounds like a TD will suit your purposes just fine Craig.
Now it's just a matter of finding the most comfortable for you.
Traveling solo ?......perhaps lay corner-corner rather than North-South.

It's the weekender from K pod. It has a lot of extras solar, hot water, awnings & fully enclosed annex etc. It looks pretty good but it is in Moe Vic.

New or used Craig, do you need someone to have a look at it for you ?

Juz anuva thort............

Have you considered building one :o

Don't shake ya head like that, it's not a difficult project if you have time, equipment and some ability.
I built ours and enjoyed the experience over a coupla months.
It's done Birdsville, Finke, Mt Dare, broke a spring mount, got it welded at Hamilton Station, Oodnadatta and home.
I doubt we'll ever part with it.

Have look about for a trailer and some TD plans.
I can give you some forum contacts if you like.

Lots of satisfaction, and a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a built unit.

Thanks Lance, I have the tools, I have the ability but I don't have the space. The problem with a lot of the plans is the size of the campers. The K pod certainly ticks a lot of what I want. You can set it up with half bed and also a seat. Did you have a look at the video on the link I posted? The unit I am looking at is second hand and yes it is more than what I wanted to spend but there is nothing else to spend. Also all the work I do in the gold fields is paying for it. I'm off to the gold buyers tomorrow to cash some in.

I've had a reply from K pod with regard to the bed size, he has stated the are in fact over 6 foot with room to make bigger. That was my man concern.

Wouldn't a 4x4 camper trailer be OK? second hand ones usually have all the goodies you need. Use the extra to spend on you know who?? ;)

The problem is the weight issue Dot. And I don't want a glorified tent on an off road trailer. It has to be a hard body (no canvas). As long as the set up is strong enough for the odd corregated roads that is all I need.
