EPIRB with GPS

As I am heading to central Australia for a few months shortly to help a friend on his station I am thinking of buying a EPIRB as I will spend a lot of time out of phone, radio etc and if I get into trouble I was wondering if it would be worth buying one of these.

I think that the ones with a GPS would be better even though it is a bit more expensive.

I will be required to venture out on my own to inspect water troughs and tanks and ensure all stock have water etc while the owners will be away having a break.

I will be doing a few trips with GPS first to record all the tanks etc so should not get lost but a bit concerned that if something happens serious should I get help or just accept what happens. There will be no one else on the property so I will be on my pat malone for a few weeks except for the pesky terrorist calling wanting to camp or drive the track. OHH the power I could have over some people

Do anyone here have one of these or similar or do you think I am just wasting money.

Hi Brian, defiantly a PLB with a GPS. Should the proverbial hit the fan you want the rescuers to know exactly where you are. I have no experience with this brand but they are all around similar prices. I do like its smaller size than the ones I have carried though. Check with the seller to see what the battery expiry date is

Like all safety equipment, must have it but hope you never have to use it.

just think no phone, no wireless (radio for some of you) and NO internet.

Just driving around in the bush. A bit of feral control (bad luck if the meat supply is getting down as It will be goat steaks or roo steaks). Just as well I got rid of the engel other wise 12 months supply of goat and roo tenderloins and goat shanks

Will be interesting deciding which tourist can drive the track and which ones cant. Only allowed so many a day and they will have to convince ME they can handle a proper 4x4 and their vehicle is suitable. Be bad luck if someone I don't like turns up

Battery life is "5 year replaceable battery life (from date of manufacture)" not sure where i get a replacement in five years. Might have to dig up.

Sitting here beside the river with a weather change coming and the wind blowing and the hot water warming for my shower. OHH such is life.

Decisions decisions and then that Norman makes it harder.
Do I turn the aircon on and lay down or do I let the hot water get hot and have a shower.
AHHH too late had a shower last night so could have had a SCAN today. Perhaps tomorrow for the SCAN as it will be cool tomorrow.
Lamb Shanks and baked vegies tomorrow for tea how does that sound for doing it rough or should I say ROOFFF.
