How's Ya Balance?

Post by Barboots »

So I'm going to admit... I've just been using my T1 Lithium without really paying attention to it. It was quite hot at lunchtime yesterday so we ran the air-conditioning for an hour or so. Today I thought... golly gosh Steve, you might at least look at your system once in a while...

So here it is: [emoji847]

T1 on Dottles 'puter this time. The reading in the top R/H corner is the difference between the highest and lowest cell that makes up the battery. 2mV equals 2/1000 of a volt, the battery is not considerd to be out of balance unless this reading is over 150/1000 of a volt or 150mV. Even then no action would need to be taken unless that 150mV was shown 3 days in a row and the same cell was the highest and the same cell was the lowest. Then and only then would you consider charging the lowest cell till it matched the highest cell. A few more parameters to these conditions to avoid making things worse, but generally they sort themselves so there is nothing that needs to be done.
The Victron BMV will show how much is left in the battery and how many Ah the battery is below 100%, but my guess would be around the 80% SOC level.

Terry on Dot...
he reading in the top R/H corner is the difference between the highest and lowest cell that makes up the battery. 2mV equals 2/1000 of a volt, the battery is not considered to be out of balance unless this reading is over 150/1000 of a volt or 150mV.

So a "battery " in Litho speak is all them yella things we looked at in that box joined together...???

And a cell is them yella things, and they are all 3 volts ,so join 4 and ya get 12 volts, do the same again a couple of times and bobs your uncle.

So from what I am gathering in my pea brain, the mung part is keeping all the cells the same or as close to as is possible, so thats where you come into it with all the fancy gadgetery for dumb arses like me to set and forget...!!!

Sounds good to me, just my AC sounds a bit hungry...??? :x

vik...makin more sense ...

how much juice does the AC pinch...???
Terry has already answered pretty much everything, and was about 1% out with his estimation of state-of-charge. None too shabby for an amateur. [emoji6]

In my 12V system the Aircommand Cormorant pulls about 80A total when cooling, and about 12A when the compressor has cycled out. The "on" figure goes up a few amps with temperature differential... maybe to 85A or so. This is with the losses incurred via the BitDeals inverter, which I recall as the 3000/9000 model. It's the one Terry put me on to anyway, so you're probably looking at similar???

What AC are you going to be using?

Cheers, Steve
