Jaycar 100a is dubious quality.
Crydom website only list to 30a although element 14 have 100A units listed for $200+ per pop (yeowch)

I had my network of helpers on the lithium forum buy up all the good Jaycar SSR they could find so we had a bit of stock behind us. That is very quickly diminishing but I have my contact in China attempting a direct from the source bulk purchase with a guaranteed low voltage drop across the load terminals.
The tricky bit is the original manufacturers of the really good SSR's sold off the SSR manufacturing side to concentrate on other more profitable lines. The mob that took over were not as fussy about the quality of the components, more concerned with minimum cost to maximise profit leaving only the incredibly expensive Crydom manufacturing the top of the line stuff. We have to convince a manufacturer that it is worth their while to produce a quality product that every unit is tested for voltage drop at a price that beats a Crydom quantity buy.
Fingers crossed, otherwise we will be forced to make our own and that wasn't part of the original plan .... but then lots of stuff weren't in the original plan either so ........

How do you distinguish between the good Jaycar SSRs and the bad ones?

The ones with the plastic cover are the bad ones, they all have the same part number on the box and I don't have one on hand to see what markings are on the relay itself.
The way to tell when they are connected is the heat and the voltage drop across the load terminals. Cheap mosfets have very poor junctions and this voltage drop creates the heat but wiring them back to front will cause any of them to get hot due to the heat generated by the bypass diode. The other issue is they punch through when over heated and then don't turn off at all, at least the quality ones go open circuit if over heated. All SSR's will punch through if a serious over current occurs, particularly if the realy is "closed" and a short creates a reverse current flow.
