Telstra data offer

Post by homeless »

Was in Murray Bridge today and picked up the Telstra bullshit sheet and say they had an offer for 10Gb data for a $10 prepaid card and the data rolled over on update.
Well me thinks to good to be true so back I go and ask the sales man for one. He looks at me with a grin and says "and where did you see that". I open the booklet and shows him the page and he laughs and Says "not here you wont because we dont sell the low value cards they are only at fuel depots ec and good luck finding one"
Not to be outdone off I go to woolies NO only do the $30 so no good so off to Big W YES sir we have them so I part with my $10 and off back to telstra shop.
Well he was taken back no end and he again looks at the pamphlet and says AH well lets try so on his computer and taps around and then wambo card validated so I bring it back to the boat put the card in an old smart phone and up she come so connect to the computer and it is working where the old OPTUS SAMSUNG 7 wont work and very fast so if you want some extra data might be worth looking at.

Not sure but reading the blurb it seems the 10GB is a one off and the normal rate is 1GB ...... but then is the 1GB until that runs out or for 1 week
1GB to use within 7 days. All for use in Australia.
and the saved/roll over data up to 50GB is only if you top up with $30 credits. I think the devil is in the detail, if it looks too good to be true it generally is ;)

Bloody Telstra, their deals are all over the place. I got the shits with them a month ago and rang up to cancel our tablet plan (which was out of contract), we had 8 gig for $50 a month. Anyway they convinced me to stay with them by offering on a 12 month plan, 18 gig for $45 a month. Basically 3 x 6 gig per month plans that share the data. They even sent me two extra SIM cards that I haven’t used yet. Anyway happy for the moment, well the next 11 months

Sounds good, we have unlimited data at home, so my plan suits me at the moment.

I have unlimited data at home, costs $59 for 25/10 great service and luckily not telstra or optus. You can get 12/1 unlimited for $49, probably even less if you shop around.

Is your service as quick as with Telstra or Optus?
Often read the cheaper rates with other providers, Telstra do rip folk off & definitely don't look after loyal customers

That would depend on where you are probably, plus the modem and operating system you use. Mines NBN and according to those around here, Telstra and optus are complete crap compared to other nbn providers. My service is almost instant, no drop outs, slow downs or anything else 98% of the time. Unless there's been a power outage in the area, then it slows down a bit as the power in the tower is diminished.

It's the same with the phones, most here have dropped the big providers because of cost. I use amysim, which has yet to fail and is very cheap, compared to optus and telstra. Costs me $10 month for unlimited calls and texts, as well as 1 gig of data. Rarely use the 1 gig, unless away from home and not in the bus, android, apple and microsoft steal all your online data and spam you. Just waiting for the release of a linux phone system, then will use the 1 gig.

Some days have youtube music on, that goes all day and into the night with never a drop out. My neighbour is on the same connection, which I wired to her house rather than use wifi and know she watches youtube movies, footy and listens to music constantly.

Watch every AFL girls and mens games, sometimes that seems a bit slow, get it free from a German provider who thinks I'm in Romania. The only problem was foxtel provide it for phone formats, so had big black lines top and bottom of the screen. Fixed that with my trusty linux and Vivaldi, now it fills the TV screen and the resolution is excellent, with no slowness or drop outs. Have one laptop for working on and one for movies, sport and music, which I connect to the TV. There are 3 computer systems connected to the NBN and none are slow at all, so for $59, it's really good.
