 Think I'd spend the $300 and buy a Victron 712BMV and get the 500 amp capacity, accuracy, programmability to suit different Peukert factors and charge efficiency, programmable alarm settings and separate programmable relay driver settings. And it has Bluetooth to the phone 8-)

Batteries will run the bus Bruce controller wont it just helps with the problem .
My controller must be working or I wouldn't be able to post this , its the house batteries that keep it charged .
Plus the butter is still hard .

The Victron 700 or 712 BMV is a monitor to tell you how much you really have in the batteries and sounds a warning alarm if you try to use too much before you damage the batteries by discharging them too much.
The unit you have now is not giving you accurate indications of the state of charge, so if you don't have the $$ for a proper monitor you will need to be guided by the battery voltage only. Don't let them drop below 12v while under load.
