You looked at the photo name George?
Can't remember a lot of trees that big around there though.
On the way out there or further out in some river bed.

Re: Where is this....
Finally found the diary, we did that trip several years ago, the photo was taken between Springsure & Emerald, a huge camp area that doesn't appear to be listed anywhere, Murderer's Gap, on 17th Oct., 1861 the largest massacre of white settlers by Aboriginal people in Australia took place, many aboriginals where then driven off the cliff there in retaliation.
The camp area travelling south was on the left of the Gregory Hwy., before you reach the Virgin Rock formation camp, huge area for some distance along the roadside, lots of historical info crudely written on stumps, rocks etc., private property I would think but used by everyone as a camp.
Long way north of Miles, George you can't go by what is on a photo
Been busy with family haven't checked in for a few days, guess the Dapope should have a turn
Actually really need to get away in the bus it has been parked up for far to long.

I'll take a guess at Korumburra Vic. It looks like an old railway building.
Cheers

Re: Where is this....
The Navigator has just found all the photos that we took at the camp, apparently it was the Hornet Massacre 1857, 11 settlers were killed according to the roughly signed info, another reads 1861 the Cullin / Laringo massacre 120 miles west, 19 whites killed in retaliation about 300 natives were shot, must of been wild country back in those days, it certainly was an interest place to camp. There are several of these roughly written history records of the region apparently after reading the photos the camp is called the Wallaroo Wilderness Retreat, certainly an interesting camp, really not sure that is what the camp is called but as I said before I think unfenced private property.
