Commonwealth Games

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Getting back to the original topic, there has been a fair bit of excitement with the Queens Baton Relay because so many people know someone who is in it.
I even went and had a look because I will never see anything like that again. An amazing amount of organisation has gone into that.
There have been a couple of hiccups with transport but I think some of that was over exaggerated too. The roads are rather quiet but there are plenty of people about.
We are on a split shift roster for the games period and tonight , well now it was last night, we went off to a job that was in the middle of just about everything. Road closures have caused a bit of confusion, but that was predictable. It takes a bit longer to get anywhere but the whole thing has been set up for people to use public transport.
As for the Aboriginal protesters, they aren't even from around here. The local mob have made it clear that they are happy to see the games on their patch and quite a few even took part in the opening ceremony. But that would just be a local story not some overblown beat up in the national news.
These are the 'Friendly Games' and I would hope that we all hope that the Aussies all do well.
Cheers

From my perspective the opening ceremony was a bit of a fizzer.

Gee bought my boxing kangaroo flag etc to display my so called pride then was glad I waited that extra day and rolled it up again. Just so sick of our gutless pollies and event organisers.
OK to acknowledge the aborigines but gee they are a small part of our community and we do give them lots of privileges. Cant agree that they can cause so much hatred with their continual claims.
So NO have not watched a minute of it and now go to the toot etc when the sport report is on. Saw a NEWS article that stated that most Queensland people preferred Kangaroo with pig face bush tomatoes and native herbs. Be great to know the percentage of Aborigines that have this as a staple diet net alone the broader public. Why do they spread so much bull shit.
Not sure how our athletes explain the opening ceremony features to other athletes as most would not have an idea themselves. Should display the sporting culture of the world and the good things about the host country not drag up the past and try and shame and or confuse everyone, not good for our image around the world.
